Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist – Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join the faculty of the Department of Psychiatry. The Department of Psychiatry staffs the John Peter Smith Hospital Network’s Behavioral Health Services that include: Adult and Adolescent inpatient services, long term care unit, med/psych unit, comprehensive Consultation Liaison, including trauma services, 24 hour Psychiatric Emergency Center, Assessment Center, Urgent Walk-in Clinic, five (5) Outpatient Clinics and four (4) community-based Partial Hospital Programs. The inpatient services are designed around a collaborative multi-disciplinary team that includes psychiatrically trained Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Social Workers, a Clinical Pharmacist, and a nursing staff that is experienced, committed and collaborative. Faculty will provide leadership, direct clinical care, and administrative supervision of clinical services in the inpatient unit (50%) and the Assessment Center (50%) through comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment planning. Extra duty for weekend hospital call is paid in addition to base salary and occurs approximately once every 10-12 weeks. Must be Texas Licensed by hire date and Board Certified or Board Eligible. Fluency in Spanish or other foreign language is a plus.

The John Peter Smith Pediatrics and Family Medicine Departments have an opening for a Physician/Faculty member to teach within the John Peter Smith Family Medicine Residency program in Fort Worth, Texas.  Expected qualifications include: interest and demonstrated competence as an educator; several years practice experience; but would consider recent graduates with teaching or chief resident experience.

The JPS Family Medicine Residency is the largest in the country (22 residents per class with a total of 80 residents and fellows) and was ranked #3 by peers in 2015 by US News and World Report.

This physician will be part of a team of providers teaching and precepting Family Medicine residents, transitional residents and medical students in both the outpatient clinic setting and the newborn nursery.

 

Position Details Include

The Acclaim Physician Group, Inc., an affiliate of JPS Health Network in Fort Worth, Texas, is looking for a Psychiatrist for a full time Consult and Liaison position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•  Provide regularly scheduled consultation to participating primary care practices. Consultations will focus primarily on patients who are new to behavioral health treatment or who are not improving as expected.
•  Provide phone consultation to primary care physicians (PCPs) as requested. Response time should be within 24 hours for low priority calls and 1-2 hours for urgent calls, if possible.
•  Work with participating practices to track and oversee patient outcomes using an integrated health model.
•  Suggest treatment plan changes including medication recommendations for patients.
•  Discuss patients who may need referral for additional behavioral health care and advise on treatment plans during the transition period to ensure continuity of care.
•  Utilize electronic medical record (EMR) of the primary care practices to document patient information, referrals or other relevant information as required.
•  Adhere to all compliance procedures relevant to protected health information (PHI) and HIPAA regulations.
•  Communicate clearly to PCPs, care coordinators, or other designated contacts for the practices regarding limitations of consultation and treatment recommendations, if relevant.
•  Maintain communication flow in relevant e-mail systems including a response time within 2 business days generally. Urgent e-mail should be responded to as soon as possible.
•  Participate in monthly consult meetings as assigned.
•  Participate in monthly clinical directors meetings to represent the consult and liaison service and in monthly faculty meetings.
•  Submit monthly time sheets documenting activities to support the JPS Professional Medical Services agreement consult and liaison services contract (work may include meeting PCPs, care coordinators, or other designated staff, discussing procedures and coordinating services, provider education, case presentation, and in-person evaluation of patients).
•  Participate in and/or provide training related to this position.
•  Participate in an on-call rotation with other Psychiatrists for weekend and holiday coverage.

The C&A clinics operate various days and half days Monday through Friday.

  • Be accountable for the quality management and utilization review pertinent to physicians and physician teams related to the clinic/clinical area and or service line.
  • Counsel providers who are not meeting practice, quality or behavioral standards.
  • Participated in and support the development and facilitation of comprehensive and effective peer review for the clinic/clinical area and or service line.
  • Serve as a liaison between the clinic/clinical area and or service line and District’s medical staff.
  • Evaluate new technologies and treatment modalities which may be used in the provision of care to the patients of the clinic/clinical area and or service line.
  • Serve as a physician leader in assuring high clinical standards of services, patient-centric care, and services aligned with District’s clinical and strategic objectives across the JPS Facilities.
  • Develop and participate in programs of education for the Medical Staff and in-service programs for nursing, allied health professional, combined residency programs, technical and other no-physician personnel related to the clinic/clinical area and or service line.
  • Keep abreast of and review, recommend and implement, subject to the approval of the Executive Leadership, new services and technologies for the clinic/clinical area and or service line.
  • Participate in professional organizations and activities to develop support and to enable the District to continue to attract qualified medical and support staff.
  • Assist the District as requested in community education and public relations regarding services available in the clinic/clinical area and or service line.
  • Be knowledgeable and provide consultation and input on development and implementation of operational policies and programs to comply with directives of the federal and state agencies that may affect the clinic/clinical area and or service line.
  • Participate in clinical integration, system integration, and business process redesign programs in the organization.
  • Provide such additional administrative and consultative services as the Executive Leadership team may reasonably request.
  • Assist Executive Leadership in formulating, implementing and monitoring policies and programs for quality assessment, performance improvement, safety, utilization review, risk management and cost effectiveness in the clinic/clinical area and or service line.

The John Peter Smith Hospital District and the Behavioral Health Network have embarked on a comprehensive redesign of mental health services for Tarrant County, Texas.  The Acclaim Physician Group, Inc., an affiliate of John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas is looking for an Adult Inpatient Psychiatrist to join the faculty of the Department of Psychiatry.

The Department of Psychiatry is highly collegial, and values evidence-based clinical practice and a commitment to teaching and research. Providers have the opportunity to supervise residents in psychiatry, family medicine and emergency medicine, medical students, and physician assistant and nurse practitioner students in the adult inpatient hospital.  The Department of Psychiatry staffs the John Peter Smith Hospital Network’s Behavioral Health Services that include: Adult and Adolescent inpatient services, long term care unit, med/psych unit, comprehensive Consultation Liaison, including trauma services, 24 hour Psychiatric Emergency Center, Assessment Center, Urgent Walk-in Clinic, five (5) Outpatient Clinics and four (4) community-based Partial Hospital Programs. The inpatient services are designed around a collaborative multi-disciplinary team that includes psychiatrically trained Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Social Workers, a Clinical Pharmacist, and experienced nursing staff – all committed to a recovery-oriented approach to care.

Provider will provide leadership, direct clinical care, and administrative supervision of clinical services in the Adult Inpatient unit at Trinity Springs Pavilion (50%) and our Local Commitment Alternative facility (50%) through comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment planning.

Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:

  • Must have a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree from an approved college of Medicine/Osteopathy
  • Must be board eligible/certified physician
  • Have or be eligible for Texas Medical License
  • Prefer 1-2 years’ experience, but will train a new graduate
  • Fluency in Spanish or other foreign language is a plus

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Must be comfortable working in a large public/county facility   
  • Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge in area assigned, and competency in assessment techniques, diagnosis and treatment processes that apply to the assigned medical specialty area
  • Must have good interpersonal, verbal and oral communication skills to work effectively with other health care professionals and serve as a resource to the community
  • Must be self-directed and take initiative to develop and participate in community activities and medical outreach programs pertaining to the medical specialty area

Applicant Requirements/Qualifications:

Medical Director’s duties hereunder shall include, without limitation, the following administrative and consultative services to be provided within their clinic/clinical area and or service line:

  • Serve as a medical consultant for staff in the clinic and other clinical or administrative areas as designated by the Executive Leadership.
  • Collaborate with Executive Leadership in the resolution of issues related to utilization management, HIM and other operational areas of the clinic/clinical area and or service line.
  • Assist in establishing patient care policies, procedures and standards in collaboration with the District personnel and Executive Leadership.
  • Facilitate the ongoing commitment to medical and clinical improvement with other physicians within the clinic/clinical area and or service line.
  • Participate in the development of the operating and capital budgets of the District related to clinic/clinical area/service line.
  • Participate in the development of care pathways and protocols for patients.
  • Assist Executive Leadership and others as designated by the Executive Leadership in developing strategic plans for the efficient and effective operation of the clinic/clinical area and or service line.
